Research Assistant - salary grade E13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen - 0.5 working time

About us:

The SatelLight-R project is developing wireless intra satellite communication using light or LiFi. It builds on the previous SatelLight project (https://www.tu.berlin/raumfahrttechnik/forschung/aktuelle-projekte/satellight) which developed a transceiver that can communicate using the CAN or UART protocols. The SatelLight-R project will continue the development of this transceiver looking at further optimizations of the transceiver in particular adapting it to communicate over the 1550nm wave length. We are looking for a dedicated research assistant to develop, optimize, and test the transceiver.

Your responsibilities:

  • Developing the transceiver to function in the 1550nm wavelength
  • Optimization of the design of the transceiver to increase baud rates or distances supported
  • Testing the transceiver with hardware or dummy hardware from other projects using optical wireless communication
  • Constructing models of the transceiver for use in optimization software
  • Communicating with the partner university (TUHH) and stakeholders on the progress and developments of the project

Your profile:

  • Successfully completed scientific university studies (diploma, master’s degree) in computer science or electronics
  • Knowledge of electric circuit design, development, testing, and optimization including operational amplifiers
  • Basic knowledge of embedded C++ development for the STM32 using tools such as STM32CubeMX.
  • Good German and/or English skills; or a willingness to learn the required language
  • Previous experience with optical circuits such as developing transimpedance amplifiers desirable
  • Experience and knowledge with communication protocols such as CAN, UART, SPI, etc desirable

How to apply:

Please send your application with the reference number and the usual documents only via email bundled in one PDF document to Prof. Dr. Stoll via chananiss.mueller@tu-berlin.de.
