Working field:

As a part of a public funded project, the rechargeability of zinc-air batteries is investigated together with research and industry partners. Electrodes produced by freezecasting and polymer electrolytes are to be combined to achieve rechargeability. The task of the offered position is to build cells from electrodes and electrolyte provided by the partners, characterization and modelling of the cells and testing the rechargeability. The main focus is FEM modelling of the electrode structures.
Tasks: Building cells, characterization, impedance-based modelling, FEM modelling, simulations.
Opportunity for a dissertation is given.


  • Successfully completed scientific university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in electrical engineering or related subjects
  • Knowledge of Matlab / Simulink, Python, COMSOL or similar simulation programs
  • Experience with characterization of batteries
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of batteries
  • Good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the respective missing language skills


  • Ability to work in a team
