The Department of Student Services is the main point of contact for questions relating to studying at TU Berlin. The work of the department covers all issues affecting students, such as applying and enrolling, exams, academic advising, completing studies and starting out on a career. The department is a service provider for students, instructors and faculties alike.

Working field:

  • Heading the Department of Student Services at TU Berlin with responsi-bility for some 90 staff working in the following departmental units:
  • Office of Student Affairs (applications, admissions, and enrollment)
  • Examinations
  • Academic Advising (including the Educational Outreach Office and Psychological Counseling)
  • Career Service
  • Application-based Data Processing

  • Developing the department as a modern service provider supporting Uni-versity operations and research
  • Developing and adapting the departmental structures as part of the in-troduction of SAP-based Student Lifecycle Management
  • Advising the Executive Board as well as faculties and committees on is-sues relating to studying
  • Representing the department on committees and in dealing with the public on the basis of the guidelines of the Executive Board

Requirements:

  • Fulfillment of the requirements under civil service and career law for 2nd entry-level office in career group 2 in the career field of general adminis-trative service,
2nd state examination in law
or
A master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field of study plus several years’ relevant full-time work experience

  • Several years’ experience in a comparable management position in a unit with a large number of staff, ideally with relevance to the special re-quirements of the academic sector
  • In-depth knowledge of administrative and higher education law, univer-sity admissions law, enrollment regulations and examination law
  • Experience in modernization processes in public administration, ideally in higher education or scientific institutions
  • Knowledge and professional experience in project management
  • Good English skills

Candidates are also expected to demonstrate the following qualities and skills:
  • A high level of personal responsibility, flexibility and commitment to achieving results
  • A modern understanding of leadership based on motivation that encour-ages personal responsibility
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, including the ability to develop pragmatic and innovative solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to express complex situations in oral and written form in a clear, concise manner based on the target group
  • Ability to deal effectively with conflict and cooperate with others

Payment is based on grade A16 or AT.

In accordance with Section 97 LBG, the position is offered as a civil service po-sition with a probationary period. The probationary period for this post as a civil service position is 2 years.
