Research Assistant - salary grade E 13 TV-L Berliner Hochschulen - 1st qualification period (PhD candidate)

Working field:

  • Security analysis of hypervisor technologies and Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), such as AMD Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV)
  • Research on novel attacks against security features of modern ×86 CPUs
  • Research on compiler-based methods for detecting and mitigating software attacks
  • Development of software-based mitigations against physical attacks on embedded systems
  • Development of tools for automatic vulnerability and bug detection in software
  • Teaching

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed scientific university degree (master, diplom or equivalent) in (technical) computer science, electrical engineering or comparable courses of study
  • Very good experience with modern hypervisors and TEEs
  • Practical experience in compiler frameworks and development of compiler-passes
  • Hands-on experience with kernel-level programming
  • Good knowledge in software security and system security, modern types of attacks and mitigations
  • Very good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken; the ability to teach in both German and English is a prerequisite
  • Willingness to travel abroad for workshops and conferences
  • Ability to work in a team
